Hello and Happy Monday,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The weather seemed almost perfect here in NOVA, and we got to sit outside and enjoy food and sunshine on our deck.
I’m loving being able to see some of you IRL (in real life) at Yoga in the Park. Our time outside has reminded me why I love teaching so much.
This weekend, my children indulged me in listening to The Beatles’ Abbey Road in its entirety together. All of us are big Marvel fans and have watched the movies so many times, last year we decided to watch in sequential order, which is different than the order they were released. They made so much more sense. If you are familiar with the movies, you know that there is always a teaser scene after the credits. A bonus, if you will, for the next movie. Similarly, If you have listened to Abbey Road, you know that at the end there is an extra song, “Her Majesty”. I explained to Michael and Melissa how records work and how this was a bonus, just like in the Marvel movies. I now think they believe The Beatles invented the “bonus” scene. (that’s fine by me)
Before “Her Majesty” is “The End”, with the profound lyrics,
“And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make”
Both looked at me while I explained. And as I explained, I realized I needed to hear that album this weekend. I needed to remember that life is a mirror. I needed to see the wheels turn for both of them when it clicked. It’s why I love teaching so much, especially when I can see you.
I don’t think I have a favorite Beatles album, but Abbey Road is definitely in the top three. What’s yours?
Thank you all for reading and hope to see you this week.
